Newcastle United have completed the signing of defender Amar Dedic from Portuguese side Benfica, with the transfer fee believed to be in the region of £30 million.

The 22-year-old right-back becomes the Magpies' second major addition of the summer window, following the earlier arrival of a new midfielder. Dedic has put pen to paper on a long-term contract at St James' Park, though the club have not disclosed the exact length of the deal.

Dedic, who came through the ranks at Austrian club Salzburg before moving to Lisbon in 2024, has impressed with his attacking runs and defensive solidity. He made 35 appearances for Benfica in all competitions last season, helping the team secure a top-three finish in the Primeira Liga.
